Every home game staffed.
No group texts.
AssignZone is where organizations keep their home-game schedule, referees and timekeepers request games from their phones, and administrators assign, message, and pay. One place for the whole season.
Built for youth and amateur hockey organizations.
From a schedule to a staffed season in three steps
- 01
Bring in the home-game schedule
Import a spreadsheet, or connect your club site's team schedule feeds and let AssignZone check them every night. Every home game becomes a listing with the referee and timekeeper spots it needs.
- 02
Officials request games from their phones
Referees and timekeepers see what is open in the roles they hold and request a spot in one tap. No group text, no reply-all.
- 03
Administrators assign, message, and pay
Review requests, assign directly, or ask everyone who could fill a spot. After the game, verify the work and pay through Venmo on the cadence you set.
The screens an administrator lives in
From the week's coverage to the pay ledger. Pick a screen, or use the arrows.
Coverage for the week, alerts for anything still open inside the lock window, and every game that needs someone, grouped by day and rink.
Simplified renderings of the product, shown with a demonstration organization.
One schedule that stays current.
Bring the season in once and keep it in sync. Each organization has its own space and its own roster, and an official can belong to more than one.
- Spreadsheet import
Upload an .xlsx or .csv built on the template. See what is new, changed, or unchanged before anything is applied.
- Schedule feed sync
Connect your club site's team feeds. AssignZone checks them nightly and queues new, moved, or removed games for you to apply or dismiss.
- Calendar and week views
A month grid on the computer, day-by-day cards on the phone, with filters for status, rink, division, and dates.
- Moved games handled
When a game's time changes, the officials on it are released and emailed so they can request the new time.
- Home games only
You staff what you host. Away games in a feed are recognized by location and left out.
- Controlled access
People request to join; an administrator approves them onto the roster.
See open games. Request the ones you want.
Works in the browser on any phone. Nothing to install, nothing to remember, no scrolling back through a chat to find the rink.
- Filtered to your roles
Referees see referee spots. Timekeepers see the clock. Hold both and see both.
- One tap to request
Request a spot and an administrator confirms it. Your games are one list, grouped by day and rink, with overlap warnings.
- Every organization, one login
Work for more than one club? Switch between them without a second account.
- Email that respects your inbox
One email per day for everything that changed, and a Friday reminder of the weekend's games.
- Locks before puck drop
Assignments lock a few days out. Need out after that? Send a drop request and an administrator sorts it.
- Know what you're owed
See what each game pays, what you've earned, and when the next payout lands.
Assign, message, pay. Then go home.
Assigning used to mean a week of texts before every weekend. AssignZone gives you the whole season on one screen and the tools to run it.
- Review requests
Every request waits for you. Confirm it, decline it, or assign someone else, one at a time or all at once.
- Ask everyone who could fill a spot
One click emails the officials who are available for that role, so an empty spot fills itself.
- Coverage at a glance
Each game card says where it stands: open, to review, or assigned. The dashboard shows the week's coverage and what needs attention.
- Message the roster
To, Cc, and Bcc with typeahead, lists by role, and lists like this weekend's crew or whoever could fill a game.
- Run the roster
Approve account requests, set USA Hockey levels, grant administrator access, and see the app as any official.
- Reports
Coverage by weekend, fill lead time, no-shows, and pay summaries, exportable to CSV.
Pay that follows the work.
Rates, verification, and payouts live in one ledger. Nothing is owed until a game is played and verified, and nothing is paid until its period closes.
- Rate card by age group
Set referee and timekeeper rates from Mite to Midget, with a rate for a set of two and one for working alone. Map each division to an age group once.
- Pay on a cadence
Weekly, twice a month, monthly, or once a season. Set it per official or as the organization default.
- To pay, Upcoming, Paid
One ledger row per official per period. Pay from To pay, watch Upcoming, and keep Paid as the record.
- Venmo without the typing
Each payout opens a pre-filled Venmo link behind a confirmation that lists every payee and the total.
- Officials you pay by hand
Track cash or check payments for officials who never need an account or an email.
- Export anything
The ledger and the payment log export to Excel or CSV for the treasurer.
The details that make a season run
- Game changes in the app
Add, edit, or delete a single game without re-importing the season.
- Verified before pay
Administrators mark played games completed. Only completed work counts toward pay.
- A lock window you choose
Filled spots lock before puck drop, 5 days by default. After that only an administrator can change them.
- Account emails
Requesters get a confirmation, approvals explain the first steps, and forgot-password is self-serve.
- Secure sign-in
Email and password, a lockout after failed attempts, and temporary passwords that must be changed.
- Rinks and timezone
Name your rinks and set your timezone. Officials see games grouped by day and rink.
- Nightly checks
Feed updates and reminders run on a schedule. Administrators are emailed only when something needs them.
- Nothing to install
Officials use the phone's browser. Administrators use a computer or a phone, with the same screens.
Made at the rink, not in a boardroom.
AssignZone started with one club's problem: a full season of home games to staff, and a group text that could not keep up. It was built for the people who actually run youth hockey on weekends, and it is ready for your organization now.
Questions organizations ask before they switch
Something else on your mind? Request an account and ask us there.
- Who is AssignZone for?
- Youth and amateur hockey organizations that host home games and need referees and timekeepers on the ice and at the clock. If you have ever staffed a weekend by group text, it is for you.
- Do officials pick their own games?
- They request them. An official requests an open spot from their phone, and an administrator confirms it, declines it, or assigns someone else. Administrators can also assign directly, and those assignments are confirmed automatically.
- How does the schedule get in?
- Two ways. Upload a spreadsheet (.xlsx or .csv) built on the template, or connect the team schedule feeds from your club's website. AssignZone checks the feeds nightly and queues new, moved, and removed games for you to review. You can also add or edit a single game in the app.
- What happens when a game moves?
- If the time changes, the officials on it are released and emailed so they can request the new time. If only the rink changes, they stay on the game.
- How does payment work?
- Each organization sets a rate card by age group and a pay cadence. When a game is played, an administrator verifies it and it lands in the official's pay period. Once the period closes it shows under To pay, and the administrator pays through a pre-filled Venmo link or records a cash or check payment. AssignZone does not move money itself.
- Do officials have to install an app?
- No. AssignZone runs in the browser on any phone. Officials sign in, see open games, and request the ones they want.
- Can an official work for more than one organization?
- Yes. One AssignZone account can belong to several organizations. Officials pick the organization they are working for and see that club's open games.
- How do we get started?
- Request an account. We set up your organization, you bring in the season, and your officials can start requesting games the same day.
